Antigone Komodromos and Bob Cumming have been together since 1997.
Antigone has Type 1 diabetes which has many associated complications. She has had a number of small strokes since 2003, mostly with no apparent loss. A small stroke in 2021 left her with ongoing cognitive effects.
Realizing how short life is, Bob left his work at the end of 2022 in order to be with Antigone full-time.
For much of our time together, Broome, in north-western Australia has been a favourite destination. We have flown there and camped near Town Beach many times, often hiring a tandem bike for local transport. Now, without the constraints of a job to get back to, we decided to drive to Broome in our Volkswagen Golf, staying in our cute yellow teardrop caravan and bring our tandem bike for local transport.
Peppa has been part of our lives since April of 2011. We got her a s a companion for Mishi, but they never bonded quite as we had hoped. Peppa likes biting her playmates too much, which does not always endear her to them. We missed her when we went travelling, so we returned from Adelaide to Melbourne to train her to travel with us. (See more in ‘The Journey Begins‘.) Now she loves the caravan and the car.
